Roxzene L. Olson

Roxzene Loreen (Cegla) Olson, age 51, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Park Rapids, peacefully entered eternity on Friday afternoon, March 28, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead, MN with her mother and fiancé at her side. Roxzene was born in St. Paul, MN on December 15, 1962 to Edward and Ruth (Schoenrock) Cegla. It was in the Lino Lakes, MN area where she grew up, attending public school in Centerville, MN. In 1973, she moved with her family to Park Rapids where she attended school, graduating with the Park Rapids High School Class of 1981. Roxzene went on to study at the Lowtheon Fashion School in Minneapolis from where she graduated in 1982. She owned and operated "Grandma's Attic Gift Shop" in Dorset for a number of years. She designed and handmade all the dolls in the store, shipping them throughout the United States and worldwide in addition to a great variety of other outstanding gifts. Roxzene also worked as a waitress at the Mill Pond Restaurant and the Pizza Ranch both of Park Rapids. She was also employed for a time as a USDA Inspector at RDO-LambWeston Frozen Foods in Park Rapids and also for the Park Rapids Public School System. Roxzene loved the outdoors and all aspects of nature. She especially enjoyed hiking though the Northern MN woods, being out on Big Mantrap Lake and feeding the ducks, geese and deer. She was a member of the Park Rapids Red Hats and the Dilworth VFW Post #1223 Auxiliary. She was a beautiful figure skater and enjoyed snowmobiling. Roxzene will be lovingly remembered by her mother and best friend, Ruth Freeman of Park Rapids; her brother, Steve Cegla also of Park Rapids; her father, Edward Cegla of Moose Lake; her fiancé David Brandenburg of Moorhead as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Tony Freeman; her grandparents: Art and Metha Schoenrock and Tony and Lillian Cegla; her uncle, Bernard Cegla and her aunt, Martha Cegla. Her funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM Wednesday, April 2nd and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
