CARL "PG" HOWARD HULTGREN Jr. May 22, 1944 - February 18, 2015 Carl "PG" Howard Hultgren, Jr., age 70 of Menahga, MN, formerly of Mountain Iron, MN, passed away February 18, 2015 at his home in Menahga. Carl was born on May 22, 1944 in Duluth, MN to Carl Hjalmer and Hazel Eleanore (Peck) Hultgren, Sr. He attended public schools in Kerrick, MN and Askov, MN where he grew into manhood. On June 5, 1965, Carl was united in marriage to Laurel Elaine Krogstad in Bruno, MN. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Annette and a son, Craig. Carl gained employment working at the Duluth Steel Mill until it closed. He then ventured with his family to the iron range where he worked for Mintac in Mountain Iron, MN as a production truck driver until his retirement in 1996. He made his home with his family in the Kerrick, Forbes, Mountain Iron and Crosslake areas, before moving to Menahga in 2009. He was deeply saddened at the death of his wife, Laurel in 2009. Carl was a man of many interests. He was a long time member of the Laurentian Train Club, he enjoyed hunting, working at the sawmill, woodworking, building model trains and was a collector of many things. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Annette (Curt) Piri and his son, Craig (Lisa) Hultgren all of Mountain Iron; seven dearly loved grandsons: Zach Rowe of Hibbing, MN, Joshua Rowe of Nashwauk, MN, Deven Rowe, Casey Hultgren, Logan Hultgren, Kyle Piri and Lukas Piri all of Mountain Iron, MN; special friends: Jo, Craig, Amanda, Joe and his best buddy, Oscar. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Laurel and his parents. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Friday, February 27 , 2015 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mountain Iron, MN with the Rev. Kristin Foster officiating. Following the service, a luncheon will be hosted by the church for all. The arrangements were entrusted to the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home of Menahga.
